Dear Mike and Erica,

A prayer that was said for Evan and I at our wedding, I pass on to you:

Spirit of Life and Love, out of this whole world, two souls have found each other. Their destinies shall now be woven into one design, and their perils and joys shall not be known apart.

Erica and Mike, may your home be a place of happiness for all who enter it; a place where young and old are renewed in each other's company, a place for growing and a place for sharing, a place for music and a place for laughter, a place for prayer and a place for love.

May those who are nearest to you be constantly enriched by the beauty and bounty of your love for one and other, may your work be a joy of your life that serves the world, and may your days be good and long upon the earth!

On my parents' 25th anniversary, my brother and I asked my dad to tell us the key to a good marriage.

He beamed across the table at my mom and said "Finding a good partner."

Congratulations on a union filled with love and justice!

Much joy and blessings on your marriage, and many thanks for all of your editing, writing and general behind the scenes work for this blog.

As for a favorite poem on love and relationships, I look to the last chapter of the Song of Songs:
"Set me as a seal upon your heart,
    as a seal upon your arm;
for love is strong as death,
    passion fierce as the grave.
Its flashes are flashes of fire,
     a raging flame.
Many waters cannot quench love,
     neither can floods drown it.
If one offered for love
all the wealth of one's house,
it would be utterly scorned." (8:6-7)

May you treasure this wonderful gift and live out this sacrament all the days of your life. You have surely been blessed
