@Theodora I'm humming "The Last Supper" as I head to mime rehearsal for Palm Sunday...Sadly, they'll be replaced after Easter with Les Mis, Into the Woods, ...tick, tick, BOOM!, Rent, and Wicked (with a dash of State Fair, Oklahoma, and 1776 thrown in for good measure).

@ Becky : yeah, it does have that New Covenant feel that bugs me a lot. (the whole New Covenant thing bugs me quite a bit). I usually pass it by, but it's hard to deny. And I love Godspell, too!

@Lacey: I did write the theatre that put the production on. The artistic director of the theatre is a City Council member who has made quite a conservative splash in the community. But I offered the same advice I did on this post. I'll let you know what happens.

I can never leave a service during Holy Week without having the JC Superstar songs in my head . . .

One of the things I love about JC Superstar is its constant reinterpretation of "relevancy." But the particular interpretation you recently went to makes me a little squeamish, too.

I totally listen almost exclusively to showtunes at the end of semesters, or when I'm stressed in general, and currently, it's mostly Godspell and JCS. Despite the fact that there are some issues with JCS being a wee-bit supercessionist, there's no denying that the music is addictive!
