Commenting update

We appreciate all of our commenters who respect the commenting policy so we can keep this blog a safe and respectful place for dialogue. The editors and writers feel so strongly about our comment policy that we try to email commenters whose comments are deleted to let them know why and help them get their ideas posted in a respectful manner.

To that end, we’re now automatically deleting all comments posted from non-valid email addresses. (The trigger for this is obviously when a comment doesn’t meet the guidelines and we try to email the author; if you’re posting respectful stuff from a non-valid email address we may well never notice.)

I changed the comment policy to reflect this a while ago, but some commenters haven’t noticed so hope this helps.

Thanks! Back to your regularly scheduled programming.
